So here we are, on the eve of us returning back to Winnipeg, the compound feels a little chaotic as we cram all our clothes as well as the various other items we have collected in these short three months.
We have been on a journey, and through this experience we have come to know ourselves as we’ve discovered our passions and gifts. Through the seeking out of relationship we have come to see our character and who God has created us to be. We have come to know our world and that it is big, beautiful, and diverse. However, we have discovered that our world is broken, yet there is hope as we use the gifts that we’ve discovered to bring light to some of the darkest corners of our world. Lastly we’ve come to know God in truth and in personal relationship and how God lavishes his love on all of us. We have been on the journey of our lives, and IT HAS BEEN AWESOME!
We are returning to you, our families, very soon and we are excited to be reunited once again. In the meantime I want to share with you something that I have been working on with our community the past week and a half and I hope you enjoy. Guatemala is a beautiful place, as well as a colourful place. Antigua in particular is very intriguing to the eye. We have a good looking site, be proud family.
Adios, thank you for joining us on the journey. We have appreciated your prayers and support and we look forward to sharing with you more of what the Lord has done.
For our last weekend in Guatemala we headed to El Paredon Surf House located on the Pacific coast. The distance to paradise was only a short two and a half hours, however with it being a high of 42 degrees Celsius, I’m not too sure that I like paradise so much ; )
As a community, it was a gift to be able to enjoy what the hotel had to offer, such as surfing, a turtle tour, the pool as well as the ocean. Perhaps because we all know deep down that the experience that we are having has an expiry date, it felt nice to be as a group and enjoy the company as well as some laughs too after a long week of sharing with one another.
This past week as a community we have been creating space to share with each other the wonderful things God has been doing this year. Each day we have had the privilege of being invited into everyone’s story and be a part of the journey that God has been taking each of us on. We are constantly reminded of how God enters into personal relationship with us and how he produces good fruit in our lives. We are also reminded of the promise that he will continue to do good things. So it has been great to be a part of that process, and as a community come together to listen, encourage and pray for one another for the great things God has done.
As a leader, I am always encouraged to see how our community has come to be. To know what our community was at day one, and to see it now, I recognize the incredible privilege it has been to walk alongside these amazing people who are seeking after God. I am encouraged especially during these days as we focus on debrief to see how we all have dived into community, and how that has been a huge gift for us this year. A reminder that God has good things planned for all of us, and it is more than we could ever ask or imagine.
Now to him who by the power at work within us is able to accomplish abundantly far more than we can ask or imagine, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever, Amen.
